Pears transparent soap is a brand of soap first produced and sold in 1789 by Andrew Pears at a factory just off Oxford Street in London, England. It was the world's first transparent soap. Pears soap is now made in India by erstwhile Hindustan Unilever (now Unilever) a company in which Unilever controls a fifty-two percent stake.

The soap recently changed its formula - trebling the number of ingredients used - and making it 'smell and feel disgusting', according to some users. A Facebook group - 'Bring Back The Original Pears Soap' - campaigned for the return of the old soap and finally they succeeded.
